Seminar in Faculty of Environmental Sciences (FES) at York University

In 13th May 2019, Dr. Allan Iwama spoke about his QES-AS project to an intimate audience at the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University.
Dr. Iwama spoke about action-research using citizen science to integrate local and scientific knowledge through participatory GIS in responding to climate change challenges in the Chile and Brazil. The traditional and local community involved in the CoAdapta project are Mapuche indigenous people and artisanal fishers  from Chiloé Archipelago and Maullín (Chile) and quilombolas and artisanal fishers from southeast coast of Brazil.

From 10 to 12 May 2019, Dr. Allan Iwama participate of the CALACS congress in Toronto at York Universty. Dr. Iwama spoke about the initiatives on open science and the social mobilisation in territory in Brazil and Chile.  The participation took place in the Panel of "Participatory Democracy in Brazil - The legacy of Betinho", coordinated by Dra. Andrea Moraes of the Ryerson University.
