No dia 4 de novembro de 2021, as 10:00 (horário de Brasília), vai acontecer o 3º encontro do Ciclo de Diálogos com os pesquisadores André Braga Junqueira, Mariana Estevo e liderança local/pesquisador Johnny Malta. André é membro do projeto LICCI (em inglês) - Indicadores Locais sobre Impactos de Mudanças Climáticas, e Johnny e Mariana são colaboradores do LICCI e membros do projeto de Rede de Observacao e ciencia cidada com comunidades tradicionais.
A rodada de conversa discutirá como funciona o protocolo LICCI para pesca e ecossistemas aquáticos, e suas aplicacoes nas comunidades de Paripueira (Alagoas) e Juruá (Amazonas).

O diálogo será transmitido pela plataforma Zoom, com transmissão ao vivo pelo Canal do Youtube do GRUC (Grupo de Pesquisa em Conservação de Recursos Naturais de Uso Comum) da UNISUL. O encontro será gravado e disponibilizado com legendas em inglês no Canal do Youtube do projeto CoAdapta | Litoral.

Working plan partnership between Universidad de Los Lagos and Rural Federal University of Rio de Janeiro through the call QES-AS from York University | Climate Justice
The scholars QES-AS talked about yours researchs projects and coordinate the visiting of Marcondes Coelho Jr. in the Lab. of Citizen Science (LabC) at Universidad de Los Lagos (Chile) in June 2020. They will work in the participatory mapping approach about the ecosystem services in the Quilombo do Campinho da Independencia (Paraty - Brazil).

The academic meeting with the theme “Participatory mapping as a tool for the integration of knowledge in urban and environmental health” which will be moderated by Dr. Leandro Luiz Giatti, from the Department of Environmental Health at FSP/USP. This academic meeting aims to reflect on the concepts of engagement, participation and social learning, which make up the process of participatory mapping and its applications in urban studies and environmental health.
The event is an organization by Department of Environmental Health; Postgraduate Program in Public Health, Professional Master's in Environment, Health and Sustainability; and research team of the MacroAmb Thematic Project (FAPESP proc.n. 2015 / 03804-9).

Module 4 | Social cartography + GIS and SDI

Capacity building of education professionals and others interested in the disasters risk prevention on the municipalities of Northern coast of Sao Paulo - Caraguatatuba, Ilhabela, Sao Sebastiao and Ubatuba. The course is based on action research and citizen science, which encourages the co-knowledge production, research and local monitoring with the involvement of the community and of public institutions. This module presented the tools of social cartography, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI).

Through the research network of QES Climate Justice in York University (Canada), Dr. Allan Iwama presented the CoAdapta | Litoral in the post-graduate students Seminar at the invitation of Dra. Nicia Giva from the Faculty of Agronomy and Forest Engineering in the Eduardo Mondlane University. They exchange your experiencies in the citizen science initiatives to establish futures collaborations projects. On this opportunity, Dra. Nicia introduced Dr. Luis Artur, a expert researcher in disaster response and local adaptations to climate change in Mozambique (Africa).

Network with Technical  University of Maputo (UDM) - Mozambique

Through the research network of the LABGEC of NEPAM/UNICAMP (Brazil), and support from the QES Climate Justice in York University (Canada), Dr. Allan Iwama presented the CoAdapta | Litoral for investigators in sociology, disasters, economy and gender, at the invitation of Dr. Giverage Amaral from the UDM in Maputo. They talked about the risk and adaptation strategies to climate change, from the examples as the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Idai and Tropical Cyclone Kenneth occurred in 2019.
On this opportunity, Dr. Amaral introduced Dr. Rui da Maia, director of Disaster Risk Management at UDM bringing experiences together to future collaborations. Also, the Dr. José Maria Langa - professor at UDM - was presented by Dr. Amaral. Together, the two Mozambican researchers led the creation of the Environmental Observatory for Climate Change - the ObservA, which seeks to bring the climate change theme to the local community of Mozambique, through participatory methodologies and the focus on citizen science as a community involvement strategy to respond to the effects of the climatic extreme events. 
The the researchers' meeting established the synergies for connecting the LabC-Ulagos in Chile with ObservA in Mozambique.

Connecting the QES scholars from Ulagos (Chile) and U. of Johannesburg (South Africa)

The QES scholars meet happened in Johannesburg centre through of QES network | Ecological Economics, Commons Governance, and Climate Justice at York University (Canada). Ferrial Adam is a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at University of Johannesburg and environmental justice activist. Her work explores how poor communities in South Africa, which are located near polluting industries, are using science to obtain evidence of water pollution.

Interviews with Nucleos CoAdapta local researchers about the action research and social cartography activities


In 10 consecutive days, Allan Iwama together with the audiovisual team went through Chiloé island and Maullín to met the Nucleos CoAdapta and record the moments when they carried out their action research, and social cartography activities.
Drone photos were recorded to identify coastal risks and evacuation routes in the event of tsunamis.

International meeting of Traditional Peoples in Latin America, in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The International Workshop of Traditional Peoples and Communities on Sustainable Development and Territories, which taked place in Paraty, between the 11th and 14th of July 2019, as part of the official program of the "Casa dos Povos/Casa de los Pueblos" during the International Literary Festival of Paraty (FLIP). Participants from countries such as Angola, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Portugal, as well as leaders from the Forum of Traditional  Communities from Angra dos Reis, Paraty and Ubatuba - caiçara, indigenous and quilombola -, came togheter to articulate a network traditional territories in Africa, Europe and Latin America around a common agenda for well-being that takes into account the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The workshop is an initiative of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) and the Observatory of Sustainable and Healthy Territories of Bocaina (OTSS), a ten-year partnership between Fiocruz and the Forum of Traditional Communities  in Angra dos Reis, Paraty and Ubatuba (FCT).

The CoAdapta | Litoral added the initiative in partnership with FCT with Mapuche indigenous leaders and CoAdapta project participants.

Seminar in Faculty of Environmental Sciences (FES) at York University

In 13th May 2019, Dr. Allan Iwama spoke about his QES-AS project to an intimate audience at the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University.
Dr. Iwama spoke about action-research using citizen science to integrate local and scientific knowledge through participatory GIS in responding to climate change challenges in the Chile and Brazil. The traditional and local community involved in the CoAdapta project are Mapuche indigenous people and artisanal fishers  from Chiloé Archipelago and Maullín (Chile) and quilombolas and artisanal fishers from southeast coast of Brazil.
